Collision Between Regional and Freight Trains in Northern Italy Results in Minor Injuries

Trento: Two people were slightly hurt after a regional commuter train hit a freight train in northern Italy. The incident occurred on Wednesday, leading to a temporary suspension of traffic on the Brenner-Trento line, specifically between Mezzocorona and Trento.

According to Ansa News Agency, the collision involved several freight cars and a regional train. The rail company RFL stated that the circumstances surrounding the incident are currently under investigation. Initial reports indicate that during shunting operations, freight cars in the Roncafort area of Trento became detached from the rest of the train. This detachment led to the collision with the regional train, which was stopped at a traffic light, causing only one car to leave the tracks.

Fortunately, the collision resulted in only minor injuries to two individuals, with no serious injuries reported among passengers or train crew. The temporary suspension of the train line was necessary to address the collision, but services were resumed after several hours.
