Chinese National Apprehended in Italy on US Espionage Charges
Milan: A 33-year-old Chinese man was arrested shortly after arriving at Milan’s Malpensa airport based on a warrant issued by the United States. He is accused of being involved in espionage activities, specifically targeting anti-Covid vaccine research conducted at the University of Texas in 2020.
According to Ansa News Agency, the man is wanted by the FBI for his alleged role in a group of hackers responsible for these espionage operations. The legal proceedings concerning his extradition to the United States are scheduled to occur at Milan’s Court of Appeals on Tuesday.
The suspect’s family maintains that he is merely a technician working for an IT company, denying any involvement in the alleged activities.
