Beijing: The Chinese foreign ministry on Tuesday expressed its “condolences” at the death on Monday of Pope Francis.
According to Ansa News Agency, ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun acknowledged the positive developments in China-Vatican relations. “In recent years, China and the Vatican have maintained constructive contact and carried out friendly exchanges,” Guo Jiakun stated.
The spokesperson further emphasized China’s willingness to collaborate with the Vatican. “China is willing to make joint efforts with the Vatican to promote the continued improvement of China-Vatican relations,” he added.
