Bodies of Mountaineers Missing on Grignetta Found

Lecco: The lifeless bodies of Cristian Mauro and Paolo Bellazzi, the two hikers missing since Saturday on Mt Grignetta north of Milan, have been identified, rescuers said Monday. They were discovered roughly halfway up the Caimi gully on the mountain’s outskirts, where search efforts had been concentrated recently.

According to Ansa News Agency, the focus of the search intensified in that specific area following the detection of a signal from one of the hikers’ cell phones. This technological breakthrough helped rescuers locate the missing mountaineers in the rugged terrain surrounding Lecco.
