Berlusconi’s Sardinian Bolt-Hole Nears Sale to ‘Arab’

Rome: Negotiations are reportedly in the final stages for the sale of Villa Certosa, the historic Sardinian summer residence of the late three-time ex-premier and media mogul Silvio Berlusconi, founder of Mediaset and Forza Italia. The potential buyer is said to be an unnamed “rich Arab,” as reported by media sources.

According to Ansa News Agency, the villa, which overlooks the Gulf of Porto Rotondo in Punta Lada, spans 4,500 square meters and includes 126 rooms and a 120-hectare park. It is also known for its artificial volcano, which Berlusconi enjoyed activating to entertain his prestigious guests.

The property’s value is estimated to be between £300 million and £500 million, and it has reportedly attracted the interest of a wealthy Arab, as mentioned by the newspaper La Nuova Sardegna. However, the closing of the sale remains undecided, with the former Prime Minister’s heirs showing no urgency to sell the luxurious residence, located near Costa Smeralda. Over the years, the villa has hosted notable figures such as former US President George W. Bush, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, and current Russian President Vladimir Putin.

This is not the first instance of Villa Certosa drawing media attention. Following the death of Berlusconi, known as ‘The Knight’ of Labour, there have been various rumors about potential buyers. Last year, interest was reportedly shown by the Sultan of Brunei, Hassanal Bolkiah, and the hotel giant Four Seasons, both of which have denied any involvement with the ownership of Berlusconi’s luxury estate.
