Berlinguer and Parthenope Lead David di Donatello Award Nominations

Rome: Paolo Sorrentino’s coming-of-age drama “Parthenope” and Andrea Segre’s “Berlinguer – The Great Ambition,” a biopic about the late former Italian Communist Party leader Enrico Berlinguer, have emerged as the frontrunners for Italy’s prestigious David di Donatello cinema awards. Both films have secured an impressive 15 nominations each.

According to Ansa News Agency, Maura Delpero’s film “Vermiglio,” which was shortlisted for the Best International Feature Film category at the 2025 Academy Awards but did not receive a nomination, has received 14 nominations for the David awards. Similarly, Valeria Golino’s TV mini-series “L’Arte della Gioia” (Art of Joy) has also garnered 14 nominations.

The 70th edition of the David di Donatello awards, often referred to as Italy’s equivalent of the Oscars, is set to take place on May 7. These awards are highly anticipated within the Italian film industry and celebrate outstanding achievements in cinema.
