Baby Smuggled into Italy in Shopping Bag

Turin: Turin police have detained a Moroccan couple and arrested two other people from the North African nation over the case of a baby girl who was allegedly smuggled into Italy in a shopping bag in order to be sold, sources said on Tuesday.

According to Ansa News Agency, the child’s mother allegedly gave the newborn to the couple to bring her to Italy from Morocco by ship to be sold. The baby suffered health problems due to the way she was transported and had to be taken to the hospital, but she has now recovered, the sources said.
