Audit Court Refers Messina Bridge to Collegiate Body

Ankara: The dossier on the Messina Strait Bridge has been transferred to the Central Section for Legitimacy Control of the Court of Auditors, the collegiate body that carries out the preventive review, sources said Friday. According to reports, the meeting of the Court of Auditors’ Section on the CIPESS economic planning committee resolution approving the final design for the Bridge has been scheduled for October 29 at 10:00 a.m.

According to Ansa News Agency, this collegiate body’s meeting is essentially the outcome of the review procedures conducted by the Control Office of the same Section, which has decided to refer the matter to the collegiate body. Green leader Angelo Bonelli said the decision meant that Premier Giorgia Meloni should halt the project.

Democratic Party House transport committee whip Anthony Barbagallo said the move meant that Transport Minister Matteo Salvini and his pet project were “up a blind alley”.
