Attack on UNIFIL Choice, Not a Mistake, Says Crosetto
Rome: Italian Defence Minister Guido Crosetto on Wednesday condemned the latest attack by Israeli forces on the UNIFIL mission in Lebanon, stressing that it was no accident.
According to Ansa News Agency, Crosetto told daily newspaper Il Foglio, “This is a significant, serious act.” He emphasized that unlike past incidents, this event, which also affected the Italian contingent, was not a mistake or something that occurred independently of the Israeli Defense Forces’ (IDF) will. Instead, Crosetto pointed out that UNIFIL regarded it as a deliberate choice by the Israeli forces.
Crosetto described the attack as deliberate on the part of the Israeli forces and incomprehensible and unacceptable to Italy. He expressed his intent to convey to his Israeli counterpart Italy’s total disapproval of the incident. Crosetto stated his commitment to communicate Italy’s stance with all possible force, underscoring the gravity of the situation.
