Rome: Atalanta secured a crucial 2-0 victory against AS Roma in the Italian capital on Monday, keeping the pressure on Serie A leaders Napoli. The win was achieved through second-half goals by Marten De Roon and former Roma forward Nicolo Zaniolo, allowing Atalanta to remain in striking distance of the top position.
According to Ansa News Agency, Atalanta’s win brings their tally to 31 points from 14 games, just one point shy of league leaders Napoli. The Bergamo-based team is currently two points ahead of defending champions Inter, as well as Fiorentina and Lazio. Meanwhile, Inter and Fiorentina still have a game in hand following the suspension of their match in Florence on Sunday, after Fiorentina midfielder Edoardo Bove collapsed on the pitch.
