Arianna Meloni Calls for Responsibility at FdI Convention
Rome: Arianna Meloni, who heads the secretariat of Premier Giorgia Meloni’s right-wing Brothers of Italy (FdI) party, called for responsibility at a convention on Saturday, according to well-informed sources. The prime minister’s sister urged party members to support Giorgia Meloni wholeheartedly, concluding the party’s national executive committee meeting held earlier that day, as reported by participants at the event.
According to Ansa News Agency, FdI coordinator and MP Giovanni Donzelli expressed confidence in the party’s path, stating, “we are serene and determined.” He emphasized their commitment to fulfilling promises made to Italians, dismissing any distractions. Donzelli highlighted discussions at the convention, focusing on the party’s campaigns and the successes achieved during the two years under Meloni’s government, countering predictions from the Left about potential disasters.
Tourism Minister Daniela Santanch¨ shared images from the meeting on social media, seated alongside Donzelli and Tommaso Foti, the minister for European affairs, the South, cohesion, and the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP). Santanch¨ expressed pride in the party’s journey and the trust received from Italians. She reaffirmed the party’s unity and commitment to achieving ambitious goals, despite being indicted for alleged false accounting at her former publishing company, Visibilia. Santanch¨, who has denied any wrongdoing, remains steadfast in her role, supported by the party’s confidence in her work.
Donzelli reiterated this confidence, stating, “confidence is expressed by Parliament, the confidence Brothers of Italy has in Santanch¨’s work has never failed.” He praised her as an excellent minister with an impeccable record, dismissing any doubts about her performance.
Amid these developments, Giorgia Meloni addressed the public on Friday, asserting that despite daily criticisms and destabilization attempts, Italy’s support for her government remained strong. She referenced a Supermedia Youtrend poll showing the Brothers of Italy (FdI) party’s support at 30.1%, a slight increase since January 16. Meloni emphasized her focus on reliable and determined work to gain public confidence, viewing the stable support as validation of their efforts to defend national interests and create opportunities for Italian companies. She concluded with a resolute commitment to continue her work with confidence and determination.
