Any Agreement with Trump Deemed Worthless by Economist Stiglitz

Milan: Nobel-prize-winning American economist Joseph Stiglitz addressed a forum on competitiveness at the headquarters of the Assolombarda business association, stating that any agreement made with United States President Donald Trump is worthless.

According to Ansa News Agency, Stiglitz expressed skepticism about the reliability of agreements involving Trump, specifically referencing the deal on tariffs between the EU and the US. He pointed out the inconsistency in Trump’s approach by citing the example of a deal with Canada and Mexico. Stiglitz highlighted that during Trump’s first term, he reached an agreement with these countries, only to discard it at the beginning of his second term.

Stiglitz further elaborated that while an agreement might be reached, it should only be seen as a temporary truce. This truce, he suggested, would likely be violated whenever it benefited Trump. Stiglitz’s remarks underscore his belief in the temporary and unstable nature of agreements under Trump’s leadership.
