Another West Nile Virus Victim Registered in Lazio
Lazio: Lazio registered its sixth West Nile Virus victim of this year on Thursday when an 83-year-old woman died in the intensive-care unit of Latina’s Santa Maria Goretti Hospital. The woman, like others who have succumbed to the virus, had several pre-existing conditions, which complicated her health situation.
According to Ansa News Agency, there have also been seven deaths in Campania this year and one in Piedmont linked to the virus, which is primarily spread by mosquitoes. Despite the rising number of cases, the health ministry has assured the public that the situation is under control. They emphasize that there is no need for alarm as the contagion and fatality figures remain consistent with patterns observed in recent years, even though areas of Italy previously unaffected by the virus have reported cases this year.
