Ambassador Castellani Unveils Srebrenica Commemoration Initiative
Sarajevo: The Italian Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarah Eti Castellani, met with the Mayor of Sarajevo, Predrag Puharic, to discuss the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide. The meeting was an occasion to finalize the City of Sarajevo’s support for an upcoming artistic event organized by the Italian embassy. This event is scheduled to take place on 10 July at the City Hall, a site that holds cultural significance in the Bosnian-Herzegovinian capital.
According to Ansa News Agency, the event is intended to symbolize Italy’s contribution to commemorating the Srebrenica genocide. It aims to honor the victims and demonstrate solidarity with Bosnia and Herzegovina. The initiative has gained the backing of the Organising Committee responsible for events marking the 11 July anniversary of the genocide, which occurred in 1995 against Bosniaks in the UN-designated ‘protected zone’ of Srebrenica. The event will be part of the official schedule for commemorating the anniversary.
