Amb. Dionisi Engages with Thai Deputy PM on Defense Collaboration
Bangkok: The Italian Ambassador to Bangkok, Paolo Dionisi, recently held a meeting with the Thai Deputy Premier and Minister of Defence, Phumtham Wechayachai. The discussions centered around strengthening cooperation within the defense sector and preparing for the upcoming visit of the Italian ship Marceglia to Thailand.
According to Ansa News Agency, the frigate Marceglia departed from the La Spezia dockyard on January 20th for an operational projection campaign in the Indo-Pacific region. This mission includes scheduled stops at 18 ports across 14 countries, traversing approximately twenty thousand nautical miles before its return to Italy this summer. After visits to Djibouti, Sri Lanka, and Indonesia, the vessel is set to dock in Thailand. Its journey will continue to the Philippines, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, India, Pakistan, Qatar, Oman, and Jordan. A significant milestone of this campaign will be its participation in Expo2025 in Osaka, Japan.
