Always Time to Remember Holocaust Says Segre

Rome: Holocaust survivor and Life Senator Liliana Segre on Monday emphasized the importance of remembering the Holocaust, stating, “The memory of the Shoah is always.” These were the only words Segre shared upon arriving at a ceremony commemorating Holocaust Remembrance Day in the Jewish district of Rome.

According to Ansa News Agency, Segre was received by Noemi Di Segni, President of the Union of Italian Jewish Communities (UCEI), and Riccardo Di Segni, the Chief Rabbi of Rome. The ceremony took place at Portico d’Ottavia in the Jewish Ghetto, a historically significant site where over 1,000 Jews were rounded up by Nazis on October 16, 1943, and deported to concentration camps.
