AICS Tunis and Italian Embassy Celebrate 60 Years of Archaeological Cooperation

Tunis: On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the first Tunisian-Italian archaeological mission, the Italian Development Cooperation Agency in Tunis participated in a significant event at the Bardo Museum. The gathering, organized by the National Heritage Institute, the Italian Embassy in Tunisia, and the Italian Cultural Institute in Tunis, aimed to review the current state of collaboration and address future challenges in archaeological cooperation.

According to Ansa News Agency, the AICS Tunis announced via its social channels that the event featured a round table discussion. Annamaria Meligrana, the deputy director of the AICS Tunis, engaged with representatives from the National Heritage Institute, the Central Institute for Restoration, and the Central Institute for Archaeology. They shared insights on the Italian cooperation experience in heritage conservation, underlining the critical link between exchanging expertise in restoration and heritage conservation and the dynamics of sustainable local d
evelopment.

The event served to enhance dialogue between Tunisian and Italian institutions, establishing a foundation for future partnerships. It also reaffirmed the important role culture plays as a driver of cohesion and socio-economic development.
