7 Palestinians, Including Children, Killed in Israeli Airstrike on School Sheltering Displaced in Gaza

GAZA CITY: At least seven Palestinians, including children and women, were killed on Saturday in an Israeli airstrike targeting a school run by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in western Gaza. The school was being used as a shelter for families displaced by the ongoing conflict in the region.

According to Anadolu Agency, Palestinian medics reported that the Israeli attack on the school led to seven fatalities and numerous injuries. Those injured were swiftly transported to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.

Witnesses at the scene described the airstrike as targeting the Asma school located in the Shati refugee camp. This facility had become a refuge for thousands of displaced Palestinians who sought safety from the pervasive bombardment occurring in northern Gaza.

The attack on the school is part of a broader conflict, where Israel has reportedly killed more than 42,500 people in Gaza following a cross-border incursion by Hamas. Notably, Israe
l also claimed responsibility for killing Yahya Sinwar, the leader of Hamas, earlier this week. Sinwar had assumed leadership after the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh on July 31 in Tehran.
