4.2-Magnitude Quake Rocks Province of Potenza


Potenza: A 4.2 magnitude earthquake rocked the provinces of Potenza and Matera in the southern region of Basilicata on Tuesday.



According to Ansa News Agency, the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) reported that the quake struck just after 10am, approximately six kilometres from the town of Vaglio in the province of Potenza, at a depth of 14.3 kilometres.



The tremors prompted the evacuation of pupils from several schools, and numerous office workers took to the streets as a precautionary measure. Despite the disruption, there were no initial reports of injuries or significant damage.
