36 Million Italians Plan Summer Holidays, Majority Opt for Domestic Travel
Rome: Around 36.1 million Italians are planning vacations this year between June and September, including 25.4 million adults and 10.7 million minors, according to a Tecn¨ survey for the hoteliers’ association Federalberghi that was released on Friday. It indicates a significant trend of domestic travel among Italians this summer.
According to Ansa News Agency, the survey reveals that a substantial 88% of the holidaymakers are choosing to travel within Italy, while only 12% are venturing abroad. This preference for local destinations aligns with the broader trend of supporting local tourism and exploring the diverse attractions within the country.
Moreover, the survey highlighted that 33.6% of the vacationers are planning more than one trip during this period. This suggests that Italians are keen on maximizing their holiday experiences by visiting multiple locations.
Breaking down the holiday months, the survey noted that 15.7 million Italians went away in June, with 16.1 million traveling in July, 17.5 million in August, and 4.7 million in September. These trips are expected to generate substantial economic activity, with an estimated business value of around 41.3 billion euros.
