3 Roma Minors in Fatal Milan Car Incident Entrusted to City Care

Milan: Three out of four Roma minors involved in a tragic car incident that resulted in the death of a 71-year-old Milanese woman on August 11 have been entrusted to the care of the city of Milan by a minors’ court. The minors include two brothers, aged 11 and 13, with the younger brother identified as the driver, along with an 11-year-old girl.

According to Ansa News Agency, the victim of the incident was identified as Cecilia De Astis. In the wake of the court’s decision, De Astis’s son expressed strong sentiments outside the courtroom, stating, “we must all rebel against them, it’s a well-known fact that (Roma) live off thieving.”

The case has reignited discussions in Italy regarding Roma-related crime and the upbringing of Roma children, bringing attention to longstanding societal issues.
