22-Year-Old Woman Alleges Rape at Milan New Year’s Eve Party

MILAN: A 22-year-old woman has come forward alleging she was raped during a New Year’s Eve celebration at a club in Milan’s Idroscalo area. The incident reportedly occurred in the bathroom of the Magnolia club, where a party titled “We Love 2000” was hosted to welcome the New Year, as reported by the local edition of Il Giorno on Thursday.

According to Ansa News Agency, the woman, who resides in a suburban area near Milan and is of Latin American descent, attended the event with friends. During the party, she allegedly encountered a young man described as being of North African origin. The woman claims that he sexually assaulted her in a club bathroom before fleeing the scene.

Following the incident, the 22-year-old received medical attention at Mangiagalli Hospital. The Carabinieri police have since initiated an investigation into the matter, forwarding the case to the State attorney’s office. This move activates the red-code procedure, a protocol designed to safeguard women from violence. Investigative sources indicate that efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the suspect.
