150-Million Euro Investment in Piedmont Announced at Italy Pavilion

Osaka: Procos Spa has announced a substantial investment of 150 million euros in its Cameri plant near Novara over the next eight years. This announcement was made during the ‘Investing in Piedmont: crafting the future of manufacturing and innovation’ event at the Italy Pavilion of Expo 2025 Osaka, which focuses on attracting investments and is organized by the Piedmont region in cooperation with the Business and Made in Italy Ministry (MIMIT).

According to Ansa News Agency, the event was attended by notable figures including the Commissioner General for Italy at Expo 2025 Osaka, Ambassador Mario Vattani, Piedmont’s Economic Development, Internationalization and Investment Attraction Councillor Andrea Tronzano, the Secretary General of Unioncamere Piedmont Paolo Bertolino, and the President of Ceipiemonte Dario Peirone. Representatives of Japanese companies with activities and investments in Piedmont were also present. Procos Spa, a chemical-pharmaceutical company based in Cameri, specializes in producing active pharmaceutical ingredients.

The company’s expansion, announced by CEO Enrico Zodio and Chief Commercial Officer Kingo Yamashita, follows a prior investment of 100 million euros to expand the R11 production unit. This brings the total investment to 250 million euros aimed at enhancing Piedmont’s plant. Zodio emphasized the Japanese group’s dedication to investing in the region, valuing the company as a Piedmont excellence with a long history.

Zodio highlighted the importance of continuing Italy’s tradition in pharmaceutical chemistry and emphasized that innovation and social responsibility are central to Procos’s strategy. Potential new projects to boost Research and Development and improve the Cameri plant were announced, underscoring a commitment to future-focused, sustainable investments.

Ambassador Vattani expressed satisfaction with the announcements, noting that the Italy Pavilion serves as a strategic platform for growth diplomacy. He praised the synergy with MIMIT, emphasizing Italy’s teamwork in promoting the national economy and attracting foreign investments.

Piedmont Governor Alberto Cirio applauded the significant investments in key sectors for the region’s economy, noting the teamwork by institutional stakeholders. According to Cirio, Piedmont remains an appealing region capable of attracting multinational and large group interests.

Andrea Tronzano, Piedmont’s Economic Development, Internationalization and Investment Attraction Councillor, remarked that Procos Spa’s announcement reflects the ongoing efforts to promote investment and business opportunities in the region. Tronzano added that participating in Expo offers a valuable platform to meet companies and potential investors, showcasing the excellence of Piedmont’s production chains and training system.
