Zelensky Invites Pope Leo XVI to Kyiv During First Phone Call

Vatican City: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Telegram that he had his first telephone conversation with Pope Leo XVI on Monday, during which he extended an invitation for the Pope to visit Ukraine.

According to Ansa News Agency, the American pope, during his first Regina Coeli address from the central balcony of Saint Peter’s Basilica, made an appeal for an end to conflicts worldwide, specifically mentioning Ukraine and Gaza. This appeal echoes similar calls made by his predecessor Pope Francis.
