Yr-on-yr Italian Industrial Production Down for 22nd Month
Rome: Istat said Tuesday that its calendar-adjusted industrial-production index dropped by 1.5% in November 2024 with respect to the same month in 2023 for the 22nd consecutive year-on-year fall. The national statistics agency added that industrial production was up slightly in month-on-month terms in November, with the seasonally-adjusted index up by 0.3% on October.
According to Ansa News Agency, the ongoing decline in year-on-year industrial production highlights persistent challenges in Italy’s industrial sector. Despite the slight month-on-month increase, the overall year-on-year trend indicates a prolonged period of reduced industrial output.
The decrease in year-on-year industrial production could have significant implications for economic policy and employment in Italy. Policymakers may need to address underlying issues affecting the industrial sector to reverse the downward trend.
