Worker Falls to Death from Castel Vittorio Town Hall Roof

Castel vittorio: A 55-year-old worker, identified as Massimiliano B. from Sanremo, tragically died this morning after falling from the roof of the Town Hall of Castel Vittorio, located in the upper Nervia Valley, inland from Ventimiglia. This incident marks the latest in a series of accidental workplace deaths across Italy.

According to Ansa News Agency, the worker fell into a cavity, prompting efforts to recover his body. Emergency responders, including medical personnel, firefighters, and the Carabinieri, quickly arrived on the scene. Despite the involvement of the Grifo air ambulance, the worker could not be saved.

Authorities are currently investigating the accident to determine the circumstances and to ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations. In response to the increasing number of workplace fatalities, Premier Giorgia Meloni announced the government’s plan to allocate 650 million euros to enhance workplace health and safety measures ahead of the May Day national holiday.

Earlier in May, the government engaged in discussions with trade unions to address health and safety concerns. Data from workplace accident insurance agency INAIL revealed a concerning rise in work-related deaths, which increased by 8.37% to a total of 205 in the first quarter of the year.
