Witkoff to Meet Israeli and Qatari Officials in Rome for Ceasefire Talks

Rome: U.S. President Donald Trump’s Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, is scheduled to meet with high-ranking Qatari and Israeli officials in Rome on Thursday. The discussions will focus on establishing a ceasefire in Gaza and facilitating the release of hostages by Hamas.

According to Ansa News Agency, the Israeli official participating in these talks is Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer. The meeting in Rome coincides with indirect negotiations between Israeli and Hamas officials taking place in Doha.

Should the discussions in Rome yield progress, Witkoff plans to travel to Doha over the weekend to further engage in the negotiation process, as reported. The efforts are part of ongoing diplomatic endeavors to address the situation in Gaza and bring about a peaceful resolution.
