Wimbledon: Sinner Beats Nardi in 1st Round
London: World number one Jannik Sinner beat world number 94 Luca Nardi in straight sets in the first round at Wimbledon Tuesday. The South Tyrolean Sinner, 23, defeated Pesaro-born Nardi, 21, with a score of 6-4, 6-3, 6-0.
According to Ansa News Agency, Sinner is seeking his first title in South West London. The two-time Australian Open and one-time US Open champion could potentially face two-time and defending champion Carlos Alcaraz of Spain in the final. Sinner aims to avenge his recent defeat to Alcaraz in the longest French Open final on record, where the 22-year-old five-time Grand Slam winner from Murcia overcame three match points in the fourth set.
