We’re on Right Path Says Giorgetti After Debt Hits 3 Trillion Mark

Rome: Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti said Wednesday that Italy was on the right track for bringing down its huge national debt after the Bank of Italy said it had crossed the three-trillion-euros mark in November.

According to Ansa News Agency, Giorgetti highlighted the importance of Italy’s proactive approach to managing its debt crisis. “What comforts us is that Italy is one of the few countries that promptly prepared a structural debt reduction plan that was accepted and agreed with by the EU,” Giorgetti stated.

He further expressed optimism about the country’s fiscal trajectory. “It comforts us that we are on the right track,” Giorgetti added, emphasizing the significance of the steps taken towards debt management. Reflecting on past financial strategies, he remarked, “We should probably have done this same work in the years when all these debts were incurred.”
