Venice Court Upholds 16-Year Sentence for Paolo Calligaris in Tatiana Tulissi Murder Case

Venice: The Court of Assizes of Appeal of Venice has upheld a 16-year sentence for Paolo Calligaris in the murder of his partner, Tatiana Tulissi. The killing occurred in Manzano (Udine) on November 11, 2008. This ruling marks the third second-degree sentence and the second time Calligaris’ conviction has been confirmed.

According to Ansa News Agency, Calligaris, a Friulian entrepreneur, was initially sentenced to 16 years by the preliminary hearings judge (GUP) of Udine in 2019. However, two years later, the Court of Appeal in Trieste acquitted him. This acquittal was overturned by the supreme Court of Cassation, which referred the case back to the Court of Assizes of Appeal of Venice. The Venice court confirmed the initial 16-year sentence, although the sentence was annulled once again.
