Venezuela Unveils Restrictions on Italy, France Diplos

Caracas: Venezuela announced Tuesday that it has reduced to three the number of diplomats who can be accredited at the French, Italian, and Dutch embassies due to the “hostile” response of their governments to the installation of President Nicolas Maduro for a third term. The move marks a significant diplomatic adjustment by Venezuela as it seeks to address tensions with these European nations.

According to Ansa News Agency, the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry added that diplomats from these countries would need “written authorization to travel more than 40 kilometers from Plaza Bolivar” in the center of Caracas. This travel restriction is part of the broader set of measures aimed at controlling diplomatic activities within Venezuela. The Venezuelan government has criticized the European nations for what it perceives as a lack of support and recognition of Maduro’s administration.
