Uss Escape Mastermind Gets 3 Years and 2 Months
Milan: Dmitry Chirakadze, a Russian aristocrat and the alleged mastermind behind the escape of Artem Uss, has been sentenced to three years and two months in prison. Artem Uss, the son of an oligarch with close ties to Vladimir Putin, escaped from house arrest in Basiglio, in the Milan area, in March 2023. He was awaiting extradition to the United States at the time of his escape.
According to Ansa News Agency, the sentencing decision was handed down by Milan judge Ombretta Malatesta. Chirakadze has been in prison since June 2024. Prosecutor Giovanni Tarzia had initially sought a sentence of five and a half years for Chirakadze, but the court ultimately decided on a reduced term.
