US Open: Sinner Crushes Musetti to Reach Semi-Finals

New york: Italy’s world number one Jannik Sinner crushed his 10th-seeded compatriot Lorenzo Musetti 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 to reach the semi-finals of the men’s singles at the US Open on Wednesday.

According to Ansa News Agency, this match marked the first-ever all-Italian men’s quarter-final in a Grand Slam. Sinner expressed familiarity with Musetti, highlighting their shared nationality and the presence of numerous Italian players in the competition. He emphasized the temporary suspension of their friendship during the match, which was restored once they shook hands at the conclusion.

Sinner, aged 24, will face 25th-seeded Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime in the semi-finals. Reflecting on his performance, Sinner described it as very solid. When questioned about the significance of the match for Italian tennis, Sinner expressed pride in their nationality, noting the widespread presence of Italians and the joy in representing Italy.
