Addis ababa: Premier Giorgia Meloni on Monday expressed approval of the trade agreement achieved between the United States and the European Union, which includes 15% tariffs on EU imports. Speaking at the United Nations Food Systems Summit, Meloni emphasized the importance of the deal’s conclusion, noting its role in preventing a trade escalation that could have led to unpredictable and potentially harmful outcomes.

According to Ansa News Agency, Meloni acknowledged the need for further analysis of the agreement’s specifics, as she has not yet fully reviewed the details. She highlighted that the deal, while agreed upon in principle, is not legally binding and requires additional work. Meloni pointed out the necessity of examining potential exemptions, especially concerning certain agricultural products, and called attention to the lack of clarity regarding aspects related to investments and gas purchases.
