Time for solidarity and shared solutions, UNSG in message to Cyprus President

Now is the time for solidarity and shared solutions to help deliver peace, sustainable development and human rights for all, the United Nations Secretary- General Antonio Guterres said in his congratulatory message to the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, on the occasion of the anniversary of the Independence Day of the Republic of Cyprus.

According to a Presidency press release, in his message the UN Secretary- General said that ‘the United Nations joins in celebrating with the people of the Republic of Cyprus on this special day. This is a moment to remember the importance of advancing the Sustainable Development Goals, tackling the climate crisis, and expanding opportunity and hope for all’.

He added that ‘now is the time for solidarity and shared solutions to help deliver peace, sustainable development and human rights for all’.

‘As we recognize this important day, let us pledge to build a better future for the people of the Republic of Cyprus and all those around the world’,
the UN Secretary-General concluded.
