Tajani Urges Iranian Foreign Minister to Avert Escalation

Rome: Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani on Friday urged his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi to avoid escalation after Israel attacked nuclear and military sites in the Middle Eastern country. “I just spoke with Iranian Minister Araghchi and I stressed to him the importance of Iran avoiding a military escalation with Israel”, Tajani said on X.

According to Ansa News Agency, Tajani emphasized the need to return to negotiations and diplomacy. He communicated this stance not only to the Iranian Foreign Minister but also reiterated it to Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar and Omani Minister Badr al-Busaidi.

Tajani highlighted the Italian government’s commitment to achieving peace and stability in the Middle East. He called for an immediate halt to military operations in Gaza, which he noted continue to affect the Palestinian civilian population.
