Tajani Urges Hamas to Release Hostages and Palestinian People

Rome: Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani has made a direct appeal to Hamas, urging the group to release Israeli hostages following the October 7 attacks. This plea comes in the wake of a video released by Hamas, showing a skeletally thin captive, which has intensified calls for action.

According to Ansa News Agency, Tajani emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating that “the videos of Israeli hostages held by Hamas in Gaza confirm the group’s terrorist nature.” He insisted that all hostages must be released immediately and unconditionally. Tajani also highlighted the broader impact on the Palestinian population, asserting that “Hamas must free the whole Palestinian people, which it has held under blackmail for months.”

Tajani called for Hamas to engage in an agreement with Israel, release the hostages, and allow humanitarian aid to be distributed in the Gaza Strip. He also urged Israel to cease indiscriminate attacks, while stressing that Hamas must put an end to its tactics of using hostages as leverage. The minister concluded by expressing a desire for peace in the region, stating, “It’s time for peace in Gaza.”
