Tajani Summons Russian Envoy Over Verbal Attack on President Mattarella
Rome: Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani on Thursday summoned the Russian ambassador to Italy after an “umpteenth” attack by Moscow on President Sergio Mattarella. Tajani, who is also deputy premier, stated that he “severely condemns the latest verbal attack from Russia” on the Italian head of State.
According to Ansa News Agency, Tajani emphasized that President Mattarella is recognized as a man of peace and a symbol of both national and European unity. In response to the attack, Tajani instructed the Secretary General of the Farnesina, Ambassador Riccardo Guariglia, to summon the ambassador of the Russian Federation to Rome.
