Tajani in Israel and Palestine, ‘Italy Commitment to Peace’

Italy: Italy’s commitment to Middle East peace was underlined by the foreign ministry Sunday in announcing the details of Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani’s trip to Israel and Palestine Monday. According to Ansa News Agency, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, will be on a mission to Israel and Palestine tomorrow. During this visit, he will meet the Israeli President, Isaac Herzog, the Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gideon Sa’ar, and the Palestinian Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Mohammed Mustafa.

“My visit aims to demonstrate Italy’s commitment to consolidating peace through dialogue and to building a future of hope in the Middle East,” said Minister Tajani. He emphasized that the entry into force of the agreement offers a historic opportunity for both the Israeli and Palestinian people, as well as for the entire region. Italy has supported all mediation efforts to end hostilities and is ready to collaborate with international partners to ensure peace and promote reconstruction.

Tajani expressed his intention to confirm to Israeli and Palestinian authorities the Italian Government’s commitment to alleviating the conditions of the civilian population. He highlighted the continuation and strengthening of humanitarian interventions, including the Food for Gaza initiative, and stressed the importance of large-scale access for humanitarian aid throughout the Strip.

The Minister will also focus on post-war reconstruction in Gaza. Humanitarian assistance will be a key topic in his meeting with the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa. Furthermore, in Israel, Tajani will co-chair a meeting with the business community alongside Minister Sa’ar, with participants including the President of ICE Agency Matteo Zoppas.

Tajani noted that the meeting will provide an opportunity to discuss investment opportunities between the two countries. This is part of the growth diplomacy initiatives intended to be explored in collaboration with businesses. He remarked that economic collaboration and regional investments will play a role in stabilizing the area. Though the path to pacification will be long and complex, it is essential to undertake it with these tools.
