Soccer: Napoli DS Meets PSG Execs on Kvaratskhelia

Napoli: Napoli Sporting Director (DS) Giovanni Manna on Monday met Paris Saint-Germain executives in Nice regarding a proposed transfer of Georgian wing player Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from Napoli to the French capital. Kvaratskhelia, known for his exceptional performance in Napoli’s third scudetto win in 2023, had been a pivotal player, earning the title of Serie A’s Most Valuable Player and drawing comparisons to the legendary Diego Maradona. However, his recent form has seen a decline, leading to speculations about his future with the club.

According to Ansa News Agency, the meeting between Napoli and PSG officials highlights the French club’s interest in acquiring Kvaratskhelia, with PSG reportedly offering between 65 to 70 million euros for the transfer. Meanwhile, Napoli is holding firm, demanding a sum of 80 million euros for the player. Inside sources from Naples suggest that if the Georgian talent departs, Napoli may pursue Italy striker Federico Chiesa as a replacement. Chiesa, who previously played f
or Fiorentina and Juventus, is currently struggling to secure a starting position at Liverpool.

Napoli coach Antonio Conte has expressed disappointment over Kvaratskhelia’s desire to leave the club. The potential transfer reflects the ongoing strategic decisions at Napoli as they navigate player movements and aim to maintain their competitive edge in the league.
