Soccer: Brescia Docked 4 Pts, Sampdoria Saved for Now

Brescia: Serie B club Brescia were docked four points for administrative wrongdoing and relegated to Serie C Thursday, meaning former Serie A champions and 1992 European Cup finalists Sampdoria are for the moment saved from relegation to the third tier of Italian soccer for the first time in their history. Sampdoria will now proceed to a playout with Salernitana.

According to Ansa News Agency, Brescia will start the next season with a four-point penalty as well. This decision impacts their position and future in Italian soccer, while temporarily securing Sampdoria’s position in Serie B.
