Slain NeoFascist Youth Honored with New Plaque and Stamp

Milan: A neoFascist youth militant murdered by leftist activists on Thursday received a new plaque at his former school in Milan, along with a postage stamp featuring his portrait, commemorating the 50th anniversary of his death.

According to Ansa News Agency, Sergio Ramelli, a member of Fronte della Giovent¹ (Youth Front), the youth wing of the neoFascist Italian Social Movement (MSI), was viciously attacked by members of Avanguardia Operaia (Workers Vanguard) on March 13, 1975. He succumbed to his injuries on April 29 that year, just days shy of his 19th birthday.

The decision to honor Ramelli has sparked protests from leftwing groups and students, who accuse the government, led by Giorgia Meloni’s Brothers of Italy (FdI) party, of using the commemoration for “propaganda and revisionism.” Education Minister Giuseppe Valditara refuted these claims, emphasizing that Ramelli was commemorated for his ideals.

Italy has previously issued stamps for other victims of the Years of Lead, a period marked by rightist and leftist terrorism from the late 1960s to the early 1980s.
