Kvitjfell: Italy’s winningest skier Federica Brignone inched closer to her second overall World Cup victory Saturday by coming fourth in the downhill at Kvitjfell in Norway while her closest rival Lara Gut-Behrami finished seventh. The competition in Norway has brought Brignone to a strong position in the World Cup standings, solidifying her lead.

According to Ansa News Agency, the Swiss skier Lara Gut-Behrami, who is Brignone’s closest competitor, now trails by over 200 points in the World Cup standings. This gap signifies a significant lead for the 34-year-old Milanese skier, increasing her chances for another overall World Cup victory.

Brignone, who holds a women’s record with 33 World Cup wins, is set to participate in the Super-G on Sunday. This event will conclude the Norwegian stage of the skiing competition, and it presents another opportunity for Brignone to extend her lead in the standings as the ski circus progresses.
