Sicily to Be First International Training Ground for F-35 Pilots
Sicily: Sicily is set to become the first location outside the United States to train F-35 pilots, as announced by Defence Minister Guido Crosetto. This development marks a significant milestone in international defense collaboration.
According to Ansa News Agency, Minister Crosetto made this announcement at the Decimomannu air base near Cagliari in Sardinia. He highlighted that just as Italy is the only country where F-35s are assembled, in Cameri near Novara in Piedmont, Sicily will now play a pivotal role in training pilots for these advanced aircraft.
Crosetto emphasized that the future of defense lies not only in its traditional role but also in serving as a catalyst for social, economic, and technological innovation. He noted that this initiative is a prime example of how defense can drive progress in these areas.
