Shelve Rape Case Against La Russa’s Son Say Prosecutors

Milan: Milan prosecutors on Tuesday requested that an investigation into alleged rape by Senate Speaker Ignazio La Russa’s son, Leonardo Apache La Russa, be dropped. They also recommended that the rape case against a friend of La Russa’s son, DJ Tommaso Gilardoni, be shelved.

According to Ansa News Agency, the investigation was initiated by a complaint from a 22-year-old woman. She claimed she was convinced she had been sexually abused after waking up in La Russa’s home in May 2023, unable to remember anything following a night out. The young men involved stated that the sexual encounter was consensual.

The prosecutors have, however, requested that La Russa junior and Gilardoni be charged with the crime of ‘revenge porn’. This charge stems from allegations that they sent a video of a sexual nature via WhatsApp without the young woman’s consent.

Senate Speaker Ignazio La Russa expressed relief over the prosecutors’ decision. “After a scrupulous and detailed examination of every aspect of this affair, the investigating magistrates’ decision to ask the GIP (preliminary investigations judge) to dismiss the charge of sexual violence comforts me in having said my son had nothing to do with what he was accused of, something which caused a great media uproar,” he said.
