Scaroni Clinches 16th Stage Victory at Giro, Del Toro Retains Pink Jersey
Piazzola sul Brenta: Christian Scaroni won the 16th stage of the Giro d’Italia, which stretched from Piazzola sul Brenta to San Valentino (Brentonico), covering a distance of 203 kilometers. At the finish line, Scaroni shared a moment of camaraderie with his teammate Lorenzo Fortunato as they crossed the line holding hands. Giulio Pellizzari secured the third position in the race.
According to Ansa News Agency, despite a delay of more than three minutes at the finish line, Mexico’s Isaac Del Toro managed to maintain his position as the leader of the Giro d’Italia, retaining the pink jersey. Del Toro, although trailing behind riders Bernal and Caruso, succeeded in keeping the pink jersey by a narrow margin over competitors Yates and Carapaz.
Today, Del Toro faced significant challenges and exhibited early signs of struggle, but his efforts were sufficient to hold onto the lead.
