Saturday to Bring Snow in Hills and Storms Across Italy, Sun Expected from Sunday
Rome: The bad weather that is affecting Italy in these hours is slowly moving towards the south-east, and will leave the Peninsula by Sunday evening but will still bring some major and at times intense phenomena with a Saturday with snow in the hills and cold storms elsewhere, Mattia Gussoni, a meteorologist of the site www.iLMeteo.it, said Saturday.
According to Ansa News Agency, Gussoni confirmed a residual phase of bad weather especially on the coastal areas of Marche and Abruzzo, and southern Lazio and Campania, and said residual storms will hit Romagna, Tuscany and Umbria, while the most widespread rains will affect the South.
There will be more snow above 400 meters on the northern Apennines, above 700 meters between Lazio, Molise and Campania, above 1000-1200 meters on the rest of the southern high ground. Temperatures will fluctuate Saturday, Gussoni said.
The maximums will rise significantly in the North thanks to the return of full sun, while they will drop drastically, however, between Marche, Abruzzo, Umbria and the South. The residual bad weather of the St Valentine Cyclone will also be associated with strong winds, Gussoni said.
“We will have a cold storm from the northern quadrants on the middle-upper Adriatic until late morning and on Sardinia and Sicily for the whole day, with very rough or locally rough seas,” he said. “On Sunday the rain will stop in the South, from the afternoon, and the weather will be dry everywhere.”
As a trend, after a Monday that was still gray at times, more sun is expected for several days and over much of Italy.
