Rome: An agreement with Elon Musk on boosting Italy’s connectivity would be an opportunity rather than posing a threat, Deputy Premier, Transport and Infrastructure Minister and rightwing League party leader Matteo Salvini said Monday amid a row over the billionaire’s Starlink satellite program possibly taking over management of Italy’s telecoms security.

According to Ansa News Agency, Salvini emphasized Musk’s role as a key figure in global innovation, suggesting that a potential agreement with him could ensure connectivity and modernity across Italy. Salvini, a long-time admirer of Musk, highlighted the benefits of such a partnership, aligning with Premier Giorgia Meloni, who also shares a connection with Musk, the owner of X, Tesla, and SpaceX.



Salvini expressed his confidence in the government’s ability to expedite this initiative, underscoring the importance of providing enhanced services to citizens as a governmental responsibility.
