Rome: Deputy Premier and Transport Minister Matteo Salvini announced his preparedness to “intervene to help citizens” in response to 15 strikes scheduled for December, including a general strike on the 13th. This statement was made following a general strike organized by the CGIL and UIL unions against the 2025 budget.
According to Ansa News Agency, the recent strike lasted eight hours or the entire work shift across all public and private sectors, excluding transport, where it was limited to four hours. This exception applied particularly to local public transport, air transport, and maritime transport, as mandated by a back-to-work ordinance signed by Salvini.
Salvini expressed his satisfaction with ensuring public transport accessibility for millions of Italians during the strike. He reiterated his commitment to maintaining this service in December, when 15 strikes, including a general strike on December 13th, are planned. “I am ready to intervene again, to help citizens,” Salvini emphasized in his state
