Moscow: Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that Moscow is unlikely to participate in Pope Leo XIV’s proposal for peace talks with Ukraine at the Vatican.
According to Ansa News Agency, Lavrov expressed that holding a meeting between Russian and Ukrainian delegations in the Vatican is “unrealistic.” He noted that it would be inappropriate for Orthodox countries to address issues related to the conflict on Catholic grounds.
Lavrov further mentioned that it might not be comfortable for the Vatican to host delegations from Orthodox countries under the current circumstances.
